I put my new 2400+ (2gig) chip in my abit KT7E and can not get
a front side bus of 133. not even 124. At 108 I get windows registry
errors.

It works fine for my old Thunderbird 1333@1533 (11.5X 133).

I have the bios set at 7x (15x for the t-bred/b).

12.5x is 20.5x. I have gotten it to 2300Mhz at 1.85 volts but from
what
I've read I am spining my wheels with a 23 to 1 speed ratio.

Really urks me that I can't get my old 133 FSB speed back!

I'm thinking I'll be better off putting it in my ECS K7S5A
motherboard
with no overclocking but running at 15x133.

If anyone is interested...
Bios setting...
5x = black screen
5.5 = same
6 = same
6.5 = same
7 = 15x
7.5 = 22.5x
8 = 16x
8.5 = 16.5x
9 = 17x
9.5 = 18x
10 = weird... bootup says 252Mhz x 1.0 (252 times ONE)
norton info say 2300Mhz (1.85 volts)
10.5 = black screen
11 = same
11.5 = 19x
12 = black screen
12.5 = 22.5x

(Don't want to put my $200 of Sdram on the shelf
and spend $200 more for DDR PLUS new Mboard ... at this time)

Thoughts welcome!
Thanks,

I think the problem is that your board doesn't support T-bred CPUs.

The default ECS K7S5A BIOS doesn't allow much OC'ing (only multiplier)... but you can find special OC BIOSes on internet for that board.

My dual-PSU PC is so powerfull that the neighbourhood dimms when I turn it on :eek:

No, it doesn't support it, officailly (I have a KT7E also). However, the T-Breds WILL work. One guy just dropped in a 2000+, and it worked fine. Another guy in the CPU section did it with a 1700+ by cutting and closing bridges.

Did you try manually adjusting your bridges for your FSB?

Go to this website and follow the cutting guide: http://www.ocinside.de/index_e.html

Water cooling is for the weak. Get liquid nitrogen.
