Games minimize to desktop (not crashing)

Hello, I've recently discovered (literally just today) that some of my games are minimizing to the windows desktop randomly. Everything on my computer seems up to date and no background applications/programs should be causing this (from my understanding) I read that some thing about avg causing the problem, but I don't know how it could. Anyways I'm pretty annoyed/confused due to this incident because it happened pretty much out of the blue and I can't find a logical solution to it. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Forgot to mention, I have a geforce gtx 560.

are you running MSI afterburner? I had a similar problem with BF3 randomly minimising (and me not being able to maximise it again) when punkbuster and MSI afterburner conflicted.
