I started getting problems with my Wii a few months back. Apparently it is a common problem: the Wii would make loud noises when a disk was inserted, and it got to the point where it would not recognize any game disk. I decided to take it apart to try and repair it, and like many other people I found the culprit to be the spring/clip that holds down the disk onto the disk drive.
However, I want a semi-permanent solution, rather than just hacking something together. I know I could probably glue something to space out the parts and eliminate the noise, but it would probably wear down quickly or even get dislodged and break something else inside the Wii. I therefore started looking to replacement parts, but I found that the only parts people seem to sell are the motor, or the entire disk drive, either of which being much more expensive than the small nylon piece I actually need.
Hence, my question is as follows: Does anyone know if it is possible to get the small white nylon disk that holds down the disk in stores or online? I have searched for it, but it seems as though i can find every part except that. Otherwise, does anyone have any experience fixing this problem with a long-lasting solution that does not require the replacement?
Thanks for any help!
PS: Here are some images of the part I need, one outside and one inside the Wii:
