Look, slaugterhouses are brutal places. Knee deep in blood and guts. The beating thing is horrible. But PETA is insane. There are plenty of places that sell free range meat and I get all my lamb for example from my own family where I know it's been treated good. There's no way I'm giving up my meat. As a matter of fact I'm gonna go eat some steak right now.

treated good as in not allowed to live natural lives, fed foods that they wouldnt normally eat, and killed to fill your belly? i lived on a farm before, and my grandparents had a medium sized one. they treated their animals nothing like what these animals are treated like, because they had a vet come regularily to check on them, fed the vet recommended diets, had non barb fences, and had a few hundred acres to roam.

but even this compared to what a cow would experience in the wild is horrible. in the pens they were held in place with bars unable to move, only to lay down. eventually they were killed, shot in the head. these cows feel just like us, the only difference is they arent able to think in words. they have feelings, boredom, pain, etc etc etc youve heard it before im not going to repeat the whole thing

Your loss. There are alternatives. Get all the free range stuff you want. I went fishing in Alaska and brought home over 70lbs of halibut and trout. I get my lamb from my parents. They trade lamb for beef from the neighbors. We used to have our own chickens for eggs.

Giving up meat is retarded. It tastes too good.

Cows don't have the same rights as humans. Nature has a food web and we're at the top.

I guess you're a vegetarian. But you have to see that the non-veggies aren't ignorant, if that's how you see it.
I just don't know what to say man. I am sensitive, these things hurt me and hit me. Pain is pain, I feel it whether it be an animal or human.

Man... I saw this video where this f*cker attacked a deer. The deer tried running away, but got caught, and it was too late. The deer was screaming and trying to get away, but then the f*cker who caught it started skinning it and eating it while it was still alive. I'm dead serious. The deer was all in pain, trying to live, but couldn't. It eventually just sat there, then died, and was consumed.

Oh, the f*cker was a lion.

Dude... Nature has carnivores. Regardless of whether or not people eat meat, you'd still have many more millions of animals getting painfully killed and eaten by other animals.

Cows do not feel just like us. You are crazy if you think so, and should seek counseling. People raise cows to kill and eat them, and that is their sole purpose. They would not be around to feel bored if that was not their point on this planet.

Now I in no way support animal cruelty. What those farmers did in that pig video was cruel and should not have been done. But, PETA only puts that video out for its shock value. Even if there was no cruelty like that on any of the farms, PETA would still peddle their agenda. They are a bunch of low-life wackos who should be kicked in the nuts. Humans undergo more suffering than animals on farms, why isn't PETA attempting to stop that?

Hey, here's some food for thought. Did you know that every year MILLIONS of field animals, including rabbits, pheasants, skunks, snakes, etc. are CHEWED UP and DISMEMBERED in soy and grain combines. So basically, while meat-eaters eat meat knowing they are eating animals raised to die, the food you eat has the blood of innocent wildlife in it. Does that make you happy? Tell that to all your vegan friends and see how they feel about their diet then.

seems so barbaric to me. were not animals living on instincts anymore. i dont know.. it just comes down to thinking about it in the right way.

i showed a friend last nite the video of the pig being beaten on the head with a pipewrench and he laughed. he said that he had to do it all the time when he lived on a farm. said that he killed pigs all the time and has crushed skulls. he is desensitized to the killing and laughs at what i think.......

i know that a pig feels just as much pain as we feel. seeing it still alive after a large man has SMASHEd it on the top of the head wiht a 4 foot metal pipe repeatedly makes me sick to imagine the pain its in. its beyond torture. this is common in making the meat we eat

I'm sure they do. I saw a pig watch someone open then close the gate in a brand new fence ONE time, then went over there, stood on his hind legs, and did it himself. Those fockers are smart.

I'll never stop eating meat, but real animal cruelty is sick.

Well...we used to raise rabbits for meat. I tried severl different ways of killing them, but I never got comfortable doing it. Tried the pipe, tried wringing the neck, tried shooting the head with a .22....they still screamed. My dad would make me kill them, then he skinned and dressed them, and I would clean up the inards. The only thing that ever bothered me was the little severed rabbit heads. They stare....However, I would forget all about that when it came time to BBQ.

thats what irks me about people nowadays. not just about this but things in general. everyones so oblivious to what goes on... were so blind. my fat fukcing roomate will chomp down on her macdonalds 2 times a day yet has 4 pets. she goes "aweeeeeeeeeeee" when thers a dead rabit on the side of the road yet she gluttons herself on those burgers.

same with people starving around the world. we see those Unicef connmercials and cry at the pictures of the starving children with swollen stomaches and 10 minutes later we order a 25dollar pizza. 25 dollars could feed 10 of those kids for a week.

we see teh soldiers over in iraq and we are glad they are there.. but we forget that innocent people are being killed, losing thier homes and loved ones. im not saying im against what is going on, in fact lets not talk too much about the war because thats a different topic.. im just using it as an example to show our obliviousness

Of course the pig feels pain, and I don't condone what those farmers did while the pig was still alive. However, PETA and probably you would still be all crazy even if the animals were guaranteed to feel no pain. In fact, the vast majority of animals probably do not feel pain when they are killed, and are not "tortured" like in that video.

It's not a question of barbarism, its a question of human desire. Meet tastes good, and you get things out of meat that is hard to get from non-meats. Most vegetarians are smelly, unhealthy, and scrawny looking because they have lacking diets.

If you don't want to eat meat, then fine. But at least don't be all crazy about the rights of these animals. For the most part they have no rights. They shouldn't be tortured, of course, because thats simply unneccesary. I'm not going to get all bent out of shape over it because those animals are on this planet to be killed, chopped up, and marinated in teryaki sauce.

Still, how do you feel about all the poor little field animals chopped up in soy combines to bring you that lovely tofu you eat?

Oh....watch them take down a wildebeast. It's horrible. I saw 4 or 5 of them take one down as it crossed a river and started eating it from the back end while it was alive. They were tearing off pieces of it while it screamed in pain. One of the lions was just chewing on it's face but didn't really have the concept of sufocation down. It was really brutal.

Why not? Lions aren't capable of the same range of thought processes that we are. I doubt lions can contemplate whether or not another animal is suffering, like if they eat on one while it's alive. They're just thinking about filling their gut.

There's no way a pride of lions is going to survive on scavenging alone, for very long.

Well they first bring the animal down. The reason these lions were eating it from the back is because they all were hanging on there trying to bring it down. Only one was going for the neck and I don't think he was too bright.

I eat meat, I don't deny it.

However, what I am truly against, is pain and suffering rather than instant kill. That is uncalled for. Just as humans deserve to die quickly than in suffering, animals should. I can't state how painful I feel when I see their faces as they suffer, those deers or pigs. Whatever the being on earth, the least dignity it has to have, is the one of not suffering, but dying quickly.

I don't know if Phial accepts quick deaths as it should really be, or not, but to me, I would go against any person who likes to hurt animals for more than a few instants and then make them die by suffering over time. But I won't go agains one who kills them in a shot, since that's the only way anyways to get the meat, unless you like a long-term farm that waits till they die naturally!

Ever seen how the Chinese cook a cat? The height of inhumanity.

Still...human beings are not meant to subsist on a vegan diet. Our digestive system is not meant to process vegetables and grains as thoroughly as an herbivore's. Human beings are omnivores, meaning that we must eat meat to remain healthy.

Now, it is possible to use expensive alternative sources of protien to survive on a vegan diet, but not everyone has those alternatives available to them.

I was a vegetarian for 5 years (lacto-ovo, not vegan). I weighed 240 lbs at 6'1". I wasn't by any stretch of the imagination a scrawny, smelly person. As a matter of fact I was less smelly when I was a vegetarian.

I had and still have vegetarian friends. None of them are scrawny and smelly. Okay, one is but she has other non-dietary reasons for it.

Loins hunt in packs. In documentaries I've frequently seen one lion holding its prey by the neck/face and suffocating it while at the same time the other loins were digging in. It was still kicking while it was being eviscerated and eaten alive.

Wolves are worse though. Lions have massive jaw muscles and will try to go for the neck to either break the spine or suffocate the animal. Wolves have comparatively weak jaw muscles and will instead slash their prey's flanks and run it to the ground until it drops from lack of blood, then eat it alive when it doesn't have the strength to resist anymore. Lions go for the quick kill. Wolves drag it out.

And who here hasn't seen a cat play with it's prey? I've seen cats break the spine of a mouse and then play with it while the mouse tried to crawl away using just it's front legs. I've seen a cat jump on a bird, bite it's wings to break them, then let the bird go so that it can chase it again and again. In most cases the cat's didn't even eat the animals they were playing with. I've seen documentaries of killer whales scooping up a baby seal and then throwing it into the air and smashing it with their tail, then throwing it into the air again and continuing to play catch with it until it died and they lost interest.

And if everybody suddenly went vegan, what would happen to all the cows, pigs and chickens? Does anybody really think that they would have a better time of it if they were released into the wild? Do you think they would enjoy being hunted by wolves and lions? Do predators somehow kill more humanly than people? Don't forget that cows et al have been breed for millennia to be domesticated animals. Thus they don't have many of the natural defenses that wild animals have evolved.

Still it would be nice to treat our captive domestic animals more humanly though. I don't agree with factory farms. You can't treat animals as just resources or numbers on a profit sheet. You can't call the people who work on in these places farmers. They are employees. They get their wages whether the animals live or die. In other words they have no vested interest in the animals and thus no reason to treat them humanly. The people who you see torturing the animals in those videos are probably just people who hate their jobs but can't get a better one. The only difference between you and them is that they have animals to take it out on. How many people here treat their work PC with the same respect that they treat their home PC? Do you do stuff at work such as eat over the keyboard or install programs without first scanning for vuruses that you wouldn't dream of doing to your own PC? Those who work from home or run their own business are excluded from this question.

But because these animals are treated so inhumanly their meat can be sold for $.10 less a pound. Because they can sell so low real farmers are either forced to adapt these same tactics or else are run out of business by the food conglomerates.

So until everybody is willing to pay $.10 more a pound for their meat this will continue. That's progress for you baby.

someday, im going to get a small shack in some remote country. where theres no people. ill grow my own food and live off the land. that way i wont have urges to murder people. like when i seen that guy hitting the animals with a 4 foot pipe. i want to murder him, and i wuld if i knew where he was. he deserves the same fate as that pig he was hitting, so i will bash his skull slowly in one day. he wont die at once, ill do it so he endures unimaginable pain and suffering. ill crack his skull and while he is hallucinating from having his brain bruised, i will poke a small hole in his neck so he bleeds to death over about 15 minutes, consious the whole timee
