Any image I send to my phone through Bitpim gets its extension changed from
gif to jpg.

It also gets resized to a very small size, so it doesn't appear the way I
want it to.

Newest version of Bitpim with a LG VX7000.

Does anyone have any experience with this problem? Thanks for any help you
can offer.

What "latest" version are you using. Version0.7.31 (released April 19th) is
documented to fix some gif/jpg bugs.

Thanks, I looked through there again at your suggestion. Can you show me
the page that addresses the problem I'm having? I don't seem able to find
it.

I believe it is the part about importing raw data... you just hold the
shift key while making your image selection, or something similar. It will
load the images unprocessed into your phone.

Thank you very much, I've searched Google and none of this information was
there so now it it's archived for future searchers.

Thanks!

Did you check the archives or post to the mailing list as that
page directs?

I sure did, you didn't see my post on the mailing list?

Got another question for you. If these kinds of questions are never asked
and answered, don't you think that searching through archives and mailing
lists is futile?

The more information out there the better and the more references there are
to information the better. Shouting RTFM has it's place, but it isn't with
a relatively new program such as Bitpim.

Another question...does it say anywhere in the help pages that people
aren't to post questions to newsgroups?

This group isn't associated with Bitpim and I'm sure people in here have
used it so I asked. No big deal, right?

Nope. http://news.gmane.org/gmane.comp.mobile.bitpim.user

However "Paul" asked almost exactly the same question which I answered:

http://article.gmane.org/gmane.com [...] .user/2746

The answer was also scattered throughout some prior postings and in the
version history.

Except these questions are asked and answered on the mailing lists. That is the
purpose of them. If you look at the top Gmane link you will see that
every single post has an answer, except for some that aren't appropriate to
answer, or belong to other threads that are answered.

I didn't say RTFM (which is admittedly incomplete, but a good start). The
support page I pointed at gives the steps to go through and finally says
to use the BitPim mailing lists.

BTW BitPim is two and a half years old. There are thousands of messages,
users, Google hits etc.

Go to the support page:

http://bitpim.org/testhelp/support.htm

Keep reading it. In particular note this section under Do not do:

Mail/post in multiple locations

Some people think they will get quicker answers by posting to mailing lists,
filling out SourceForge tracker items, and emailing individual developers.
I can assure you that no one wants to answer/address the same issue two or
more times. And if you are seen posting the same thing in more than one location,
the people who can answer will wait a long time to ensure you aren't also posting
in others (remember they usually participate in multiple locations as well).

It is a free country - you can post anywhere you want. However, if you want the
best and quickest answers then please follow the support instructions. I rarely
answer questions here, and am the only bitpim dev guy who reads the group.
