Just ordered my OEM 9700 pro yesterday, and I'm already wondering how it will OC! On OC that my eyes wont be able to see, but benchmarks will. Have I gone mad? Is there a 12 step overclockers anonymous?

I too went on an overclocking spree when I found out how to overclock my GPU's. I would run 3DMark2001 for the 1000th time and yell HOORAY! because me score went up another 40 points.

It's like a little bug, dumbfounded and mysteriously drawn to the bright light, and as soon as he gets sucked into it. ZAP!

I never got hardcore into oc'ing until I got an athlon xp.. before that I was too confused by the golden fingers tricks on the classic athlons. Now I know a lot more, thanks to all of you.

My last cpu purchase was for a decent oc'er a 2100 tbred b. And I bought it for that reason.

Unfortunatly, I wont be able to see what my new 9700pro will do until a new revision gets here. I just talked to an ATI rep, and my RMA from the website for a preship is going through tonight. Then after it ships tomorrow, it has to pass through customs.... another 2-3 days.

It started with the T-bird 1 GHz. I found out I could OC it with 100Mhz with no pain... that is when I started to like OC'ing.
My next system was totally OC choosen, so is my current. But I sure did wreck a lot of hardware since then.

My dual-PSU PC is so powerfull that the neighbourhood dims when I turn it on

Ive found that choosing hardware to OC works nicley, you get a good bit of performance, but it does cause me to get a bit better than I really need. I figure at least, if what I buy is higher quality, then It will last longer, and oc better too.

Some good overclocking components are more expensive... but are indeed of better quality. And they are sometimes harder to get.

And it sure feels bad when you kill an good OC'ing part. :frown:
