I’ve got a webramp 700s (sonicwall soho private label) that is having problems
with a factory reset. The password has been lost.
Here is what I do: unplug everything from the box, push/hold the reset switch
on the back, plug the power cable into the firewall. The test light/led
never comes on (I’ve held the reset switch in for 5 min waiting for it to
come on.)
The firmware is 5.1.1.0 with ROM of 3.1.1.0. I know there is an internal
switch in the firewall and would like to know how/when/why to use that switch.

Joe- If you're not getting any lights at all it sounds as if the thing is
shot. I had problems with mine during a reset but there were always signs of
life (does any light show up?).
However I got a new appliance and was surprised to find that the webramp was
really cutting down on the speed I get. I swithed to a 2Wire and can get
speeds of around 650kb/sec with the service I have whereas the 700s was
limiting things to around 350kb/sec. So if it proves that your appliance is
shot I wouldn't mourn it greatly (plus you can't really update it anymore
even with the SonicWall change).

I don't like to take credit for someone elses information so look at the
following listing in the FAQ's at:
I have a WebRamp 700S with Firewall and I am having a problem with the
firewall where it does not come on and the test light stays lit. Please
suggest what I need to do to get it functional.
Hope this helps.
