Dont know much about Intel chips, but I do know that they have a multiplier lock on them. That means you are going to have to overclock the system bus (FSB) and memory, and possibly raise voltages (which leads to higher cpu temps).

First off, we are going to need a bit about your system, what board you are using, what size PSU, how much memory, what speed. Details please!

PSU = Power Supply Unit, look on the side for a sticker. It will tell you the manufacturer and its rating in watts. You might have to open the case up, look at the board and see the name / model written on it. Is this a prebuilt system? a system from Dell or such?

The more you know about your pc,the better you wil be able to tweak it. And it helps anybody else to help you.

Most likley you will not be able to overclock, OEM's like dell have most options in the bios (like FSB speed) locked. If thats the case, then there is no way to overclock that board and cpu.

What model Dell is it?

Check if yhe powercords to the CDROM drives are connected and if the IDE cable (the big flat one) is inserted.

My dual-PSU PC is so powerfull that the neighbourhood dimms when I turn it on

Bah... The guy have a Dell and barely know anything about his computer, the whole community could try to explain him how to overclock but I don't think he'll even grasp the most basic concept involved...

The best we can do is to foward him to some low level information sources to educate him...
