can someone tell me how to connect another computer to my computer.....my computer is connected to a cable modem through a router. I plugged the other computer into the ethernet port on the router, but my computer, and the other one plugged into the router will not recoginize each other.
any help will be appreciated.

Register or log in to remove.

You need to make sure that both have TCP/IP enabled.

Make sure both have the same workgroup name.

Configure drives on both to be shared.

what operating system ? if either machine uses xp run the network setup wizard also look here for great tutorials for all other os's <A HREF="http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/" target="_new"> Practically networked </A>

Thanks for the help. We finally got it to work. OS was 98se.

BTW ill try that link out. I'm really into building machines, but I'm a networking n00b. So if anyone could post some links on setting up LAN's, or any networking sites that you know it would be helpfull. I've searched and couldn't find any really helpful websites.
