Do I need to upgrade Soundcard for this Headset*

I just bought this headset the Sennheiser HD 598, link below.

My motherboard is the Asus Maximus V extreme, link below.

I am going to be using this for 70% gaming
30% for movies and music.


My question is with the onboard audio that came on this brand new motherboard, which is the most expensive damn motherboard from Asus, Do i need to upgrade the soundcard to take advantage of the headset.

I was looking at the ASUS Xonar Essence STX or something on those lines.

My main thing is I want to be able to have the full surround gaming experience plus be able to maximize my music experience with the headphones when I do that also.



Any help is appreciated because I am by no means a pro when it comes to audio

Also I bought the HD 598 cuz they had a crazy special today for $189 bucks, couldent pass that deal up for such a nice headset.

One other question of anyone has any suggestions for a good Mic to use since this does not have one I would appreciate it.
