Ok, I recently got a 1.3GHz Duron to replace my 1.2GHz that lived for a few months, but burned up (I suspect the cheap fan). I got it in, went to the local frys electronic store, and saw a large number of cooler master fans rated for Athlon 2200+ XPs, it was the kind with the thermal compound already on the bottom, and looked like my "stock" boxed athlon fan, which performed well, so I got it.
Next day, I tried some games. It locks up. I start it again, same thing happens, I try to bootup once more, but it won't POST. I'm now returning the processor and fan... But I now need a good suggestion for a fan, something that has worked well for you. I'd prefer a copper based one if they aren't over $30, for the good heat dispersment.

Thank you very much,

Hi,
I got a Duron 900 on a Taisol 733092. I have had it for almost two years and have had no problems. I would either reccomend a Thermaltake Volcano 9 or a Taisol fan. Also, make sure you are properly putting the heatsink on correct. There is only one way to put the heatsink on. You didn't mention what motherboard you have? Also, do you have a monitor that you can monitor your CPU temperatures? Ideally, you want your CPU temperatures under 60 C. I personally don't like mine over 45 C. Under full load, mine hits 40 C.

yes... it might bee an idea to work out WHY it stopped working first.
