What is the

rotation speed
airflow
and noise level

of the Radeon 8500 fan?

And if anyone know:

What kind of metal in the Radeon 8500 heat sink made out of?
and how much does it weigh?

This info would really helt me out...

I have an BBA8500LE and have taken the fan apart many times for cleaning. RPM, dB, and airflow are all 0. You think I'm kidding right, well a little but seriously to call it a fan at all is hilarious, you'll never hear it over a 7200rpm HDD or your HSF. The heat sink is probably aluminum (but feels like plastic LOL). And finally the weight........0gm, sorry can't help myself, probably >50gm with the fan on it LOL.

I use a Retail 1800+ (off my CPU) in PCI slot one blowing right dead centre of the core to help it out...ALOT.

Do you have any pictures of your cooling solution? Have you replaced the HSF with another?
i'M THINKING OF REPLACING THE HSF witha Zalman aluminium HSF and a fan that blows in air from the side mounted on a Zalman bracket..

Do you think this would work?

Click the link in my signature and then click on anything you want to know (ie. HSF with pic). The bottom of my HS supposedly came with a mirror finish on the bottom :). I don't know for sure as I've never seen it. I know nothing of the Zalman line however a quick search on the board below this one (Cooling...) should yield some info, if not type in Zalman in http://www.google.com

Psyko (link is right under here, then click on products you want info on :)

Is your Radeon really that hot? I replaced the stock Radeon HSF on my RadeonLE with an old Pentium5 HSF combo, most of the time I have the fan unplugged and just let the big Heatsink cool it. Doesn't get real hot, when I am gaming hard I just plug it in.

question for the other guy, how did you get your LE stable at 290/290?? I had it originally at around 272/270 then it would flake out. Do believe I have the infineon memory 3.2ns (is that right?).

When I popped the hsf off of my 8500LE, it was bearly glued on, making contact with mostly a corner of the chip..I figured as much. I saw a Pentium 3 cooler mod on the web and tried it with great results...takes up two pci slots, but I wasnt using them anyways. My LE is clocked at 295/315 now and I'm working towards 9000 3D Marks on a budget system...

Yeah, I can push mine up to 300/300, but really don't see much of an improvement over stock, so I just put it back to stock.

ran 3dmark2002 got maybe about a 1500 pt increase after overclocking... I used powerstrip at the time, maybe it wasn't really overclocking... I dunno, didn't seem like it was worth pushing the card for so little an increase.

I'm getting a copy of 3dmark03 now and will run it stock and run it at 300/300 and post the results.

I could run 3dmark03 at 285/285, 1.26ghz athlon 140x9, got a whopping 1185 score. Clunked out at 300/300... weird because I could run 3dmark01 at that speed... but it won't let me since I don't have DirectX 8.1 installed now.
