I am trying to network two systems at home - one running Win95 and the other with Win2K. I have installed a 10/100 Netgear card in each system. I then connected the two with a crossover cable (rather than use a hub). I have also given each computer an IP address.

However, when I try to see the other computer in Network Neighborhood, it can't be found. This goes for both systems, as neither sees the other computer.

Please help - what am I doing wrong?!?

Thanks!

If you got any DOS-mode/Windows diagnostic utility with your Card, first run it to assure that the cards are able to communicate properly.

Then confirm that you have the proper settings in Windows - both the computers should have the SAME workgroup name, and different MACHINE names (go to the Network applet in Control Panel to change this).

This should work then.
