Mydigital video device is showing up on my laptop but i cant get to view the dev

I have plugged in my jvc digital video camera is it showing in the devices that it is there but when I go into program I cant see the video that is playing on my Video camera on the laptop. I am running windows 7

Its not going to show you what you are playing from what I understand, that is just to access the files.
to see what is playing on the camera on the laptop, you have to connect the camera to the laptop a different way.
unless there is a software that does that automatically.

are you talking about playing a video that is on the camera on the laptop, in other words you want to play a file you recorded earlier with the camera in the laptop?
