What is going on here at THG?
The test is supposed to deal with the Prometia Mach 2
cooling barebone system.
The system is said to work for P4 and XP processors,
but tests are ONLY performed on a P4 processor.
Well, maybe they didn't have time...
Of some very strange reason the test results of this
overclocked deep frozen P4 is however compared to
XP processors of various models.
Dear Tom.
If you only test a P4 processor, including benchmark
results from NON overclocked XP is only confusing.
Why did you also include XP processors running with DDR266
memory? What possible purpose did this have other then to confuse readers?
This is obviously not ment as a processor comparison test, it is a test of a cooling system.
There is absolutely no reason whatsoever to include
benchmarks of some of the cheepest XP processors, using
obsolete memory technology, when you review how well
the fastest and most expensive P4 processor you can find behave when deep frozen by an equaly expensive cooling system.
This was the most biased and unprofessional review I
have seen at THG for a long time, and it will for sure
not help to restore THG's reputation in the tech community.
Before you accuse me of being an AMD fan, I am not pro-amd,
intel, via, nvidia, ati or anyone else. I just want the facts, plain and simple.
I woke up one morning, and then that day was ruined.
Now maybe they should have included a overclocked AMD Barton chip but I dont think that was the focus for this article. It was to showcase the Prometia system. This was not a CPU comparison.
As to the AMD's using dual DDR 266 I'll let you in on a secret. AMD systems performance is better when the FSB and memory are in sync. They do not benefit from increased bandwidth like the P4's.
