Replacement for swiftech coolant.

Hi All!

I finally got my replacement today for my leaky swiftech mcw 300 waterpump, but they didn't send me the little bottle of coolant additive. So I just properly mixed 50/50 distilled water and antifreeze coolant. its the same color and smells the same... but was this a bad move? Will I get algae growth or any other negative problems? I don't want to have to wait another week and a half to get the swiftech coolant.

Thanks for all your replies.

Rob

  1. i don't know about anti-freeze's corrosion and algae prevention properties, but 50/50 is too high of a ratio. water wetter is used at a ratio of about 20 parts water to one part water wetter. about 3-5% water wetter, in other words

  2. hi there

I just followed instructions on the back of the bottle. It said 50/50 is a normal mix, but i don't know. I am sure thats not intended for computing applications.Do you know if the rad coolant will harm my system though?
I tried to get the water wetter, but no one carried it.

  3. well, i'm guessing it said 50/50 because in cars you don't want the water freezing, but in this case that doesn't really apply. however, the anti freeze shouldn't hurt your system, it might take your temps up 2-3C on load though, not really sure
(i know it won't have a POSITIVE effect on temps)
