Howto overclock XP3000+

There was a recent article on THG about XP3000+ vs. P4 3.06 and it said there was no problem setting the multiplier to 15 and leaving the FSB at 166. I can't set it above 13.5 without Prime95 aborting when doing a stress test. I am using the latest BIOS 1002 which shows all the
multilpiers for my MB A7N8X. In THG it talked about using
some wire to place around a couple of the CPU pins to enable all the multiplers but I thought since I want to use a multiplier of 15 this would not be necessary. <b>Is this correct? Am I missing something basic I should be doing?</b>

Something basic? Try better cooling. If you're running stock, try putting on a bigger fan. Your case might also have inadequate airflow, and it might be in a warm room already.

I have upgraded my case so I now have 5 80 mm case fans and change from the stock HSF to an SLK-800 with a 80 mm case fan strapped to it. My CPU temp is now about 30 degrees cel lower than before... always good from what I have seen on some of the posts.

Will now start testing again and first off I can raise the multiplier to 13.5 and Prime95 has no problem. Modest start
but have to start somewhere. No change to anything else.

Will start another post asking anyone with a XP3000 to post their overclock results.

And about the little wire trick, that is only to enable access to the lower multipliers to increase your FSB overclock. It doesn't affect what you're doing.
