With my new Dell I got the radeon 9700 TX. I know this cards can be tweaked to 9700 pros. Im just not sure exactly how to do it.

I think you have to flash the bios to allow overclocking and then download the gigabyte bios.

If anyone can clarify that would be good or share experiences.

Bla bla bla. They already are the same card. Just overclock it.

Long live ATI.

Try overclocking it with a utility. If you can't change the clock, copy the BIOS to a file, manually change the bit that unlocks the clock generator, reflash, then overclock.

i'm using Hercules 3D Prophet 9700. I want to overclock it to 9700pro, but i don't know about this bios thing. Where do i find this bios.
Is it the normal bios for the motherboard???
Please i would really like to know.
This 3d Prophet card comes with 3d tweaker software which can tweak the core speed to 320. But i'm just afraid since this is the first i'm doing this.
Please help me.
And Crashman, i also need your help in overclocking my P4G8X Deluxe with P4 2.66 and 2 X 512Mb pc3200cl2 corsair ram...
Thanks in advance...

OK, first of all, overclockable cards won't need the flash to allow them to overclock. ATI's 9700 did, as only the Pro version had the clock unlocked. Anyway, it's card BIOS, and since you don't need to do anything with it to overclock, go ahead and overclock without it.

As for your board, you should be able to run the 1:1 CPU:RAM ration and simply increase your bus speed in the motherboard's BIOS. I don't know how far it will go, but you can increase core voltage if needed to make it go higher. I recommend core voltages of less than 1.75v.

I got my bios files from here>

I found the PAL version for 9700 pro works better on my monitor for some reason with the brightness in direct3d especially and better sharpness. Also its much better setting the RBG colour knobs in monitor to a higher setting as well. I found the best with RBG equal rather than the 9300 or 7200 presets.

i'd say 1.7v asus board tend to have broad variances my standard vcore is 1.525( like factory set) asus probe reports 1.6V at 1.525 settting also the FSB is slihgtly higher

he should look at the ram speed if you get a good spot you can get it to work at 400 speeds and thats why you buy stuff like that

download rage3d tweak from rage3d.com it works for all radeons

non pro versions can be set to pro speeds without a problem its getting higher that maybe a problem
getting ram speeds higher depends on the type of chips used on the card look at the video card ram chips and type the number in in google that'll get you to samsung's or infineons website or whatever and there you can see what the specified speed for that ram is
you can of course go a little higher :-p

Thanks crashman and wschuerm,
How do i underclock my ram to get in sync with my fsb speed?
Because i'm planning to get Thermatake spark7 and overclock my P4 2.66 to get around 166fsb. I don't think it can be stable more than that.
That's why i want to underclock my ram speed.
Is it true that running ram at lower speed, i mean in sync with my fsb gives a better perfomance.
What should i do.......please help me since i'm new to overclocking and i don't want to burn my parts since i got no extra money to spend...

I need your help to do a good overclocking...is spark7 hsf a good cooling system, or can you tell me any other good air cooling system. I already have 5 thermaltake smartfan in my Xaser2 casing.

I'm using Asus p4g8x and please......i need your advise in overclocking my board.

What about the pci/agp setting? should i leave it to auto.
Will overclocking the fsb do any harm to the pci/agp setting.
Anyway, i did increase my fsb to 150 with my stock intel hsf, but it was not stable and it rebooted. But i noticed that my built in sound card was not working when i overclock it to 150fsb.
What about my ram timings...
I'm not very good in the bios setting.....

Please man, i really appreaciate your help....thanks

Unless I'm mistaken, your bus speed is supposed to always be in sync on that chipset when running in dual channel mode.
