Just a quick question here,

I'm building a Pentium 4 3.06 (whenever I get the cash for the processor)

Quiet isn't a concern for me.

I am more than willing to sacrifice quiet vs. cooling power.

I'm too hesitant to go for any liquid in my case.

I probably won't go hogwild with overclocking, but it's a given there might be some mild/moderate tweaking of the system

So far here is as follows:

480w Antec True Power Supply
GA-8SQ800 mobo (Not Ultra)
1gig (512x2 Kingston) -- (I'll eventually swap that out for corsair)
MSI Ti4200 8x (128MB) Video
Creative Labs 5.1
80GB Western Digital 8MB Cache
Sonic Case (with 3 intake fans and 1 exhaust fan)

I think that's it for now.

Ive got the Thermaltake Volcano 7+
It works great for me..

my CPU is usually around 29-32 deg C ..

when I play something like UT2003 it climbs to around 45

it has a 3 way switch to go from low med and high..

low being what a normal single speed CPU fan would run at

I just leave it at low MOST of the time..

and it has ran perfect for me.

But you should know, that there is often more noice in your harddrive and in your powerconverter(your fans).
As I know, the noice is not in the CPU-fan.
But if you want to buy a noise-less fan, I would say that you should by a fan from Gladiatech.
See http://www.glacialtech.com/ for more information.

for the same amount of noise as that fan you could get a thermaltake smartfan 2 48dbA @ 76CFM and put it on a alpha8942
