Run this test first to verify Zone Alarm is your problem source.

Turn off Zone Alarm - you should have access
Turn on Zone Alarm - you should not have access

If those tests return true results, look around in
Zone Alarm and turn off your advanced web filtering.
You should have access upon turning it off.

If turning off your web filtering still does not
allow web access, chances are fair you have a
corrupted install of Zone Alarm, or your system
is missing needed Java hooks or Java files.

Zone Alarm Pro level has this web feature which,
among other things, parses your incoming data from
a webpage, adds some data of its own, and disables
selected executable Java / scripting in webpages.

You may verify this by turning off Zone Alarm,
visiting a webpage which does not contain Java,
either type, look at the source code of the page.
Turn Zone Alarm back on, reload the page, then
look at the page source code again. You will
note, near top, Zone Alarm adds data. This is
a feature which allows Zone Alarm to "tag"
your cache copies of loaded webpages. This
protects you when a cache copy is reloaded.

I ran tests on Zone Alarm Pro, nice software,
but personally did not like the web filtering
feature; I don't want anything added.

My solution was to return to my free version
of Zone Alarm which works great with no failures.

You are running Microsoft Internet Explorer and
Microsoft Outlook Express. Both are extreme
security risks and both are very buggy. Neither
should be used. MSIE and Outlook are amongst
the number one source of "easy infection" from
malicious items on the net and through email.

Give some consideration to installing Netscape,
one of thier newer versions. Netscape contains
a news reader and email facilities. Netscape allows
you to block pop up garbage, banners, to turn
off Java and Java script, kill animations and
many other features. Netscape is highly secure
and relatively bug free.

Netscape will take care of what Zone Alarm
Pro does, without system problems. MSIE does
the same but is hard to configure, is unreliable
and prone to crashing. Outlook is nothing more
than an open invitation for serious problems.

My sincere suggestion is to install Netscape,
then upgrade Zone Alarm by downgrading to their
free version which presents no problems.

Last note on Zone Alarm, do not allow Zone Alarm
to automatically configure which programs will
have internet access. Select the option which
allows you to decide. This way, Zone Alarm
will pop an alert window asking for permission
which allows strict control over what programs
may access the internet.

Can't speak for ZA but in Kerio 2.1.5, I set up two rules for FTP in general
(and
to FTP my webpage to make changes)

'FTP control' TCP(In/Out) Local:Any Port Remote:Any Address, port 21
Owner: Internet Explorer

'FTD data' TCP(In/Out) Local:Any Port Remote:Any Address, port 20
Owner: Internet Explorer
