What should I get?

I want the best graphics card for my system. My budget is between 400-500 dollars.

I am currently building a gaming machine that consists of..
_Intel D875PBZLK i875P P4 (800FSB)
_Intel 3 ghz P4 (800FSB)
_80097-15
_1GB Corsair XMS3200 3200LLPT Dual-Channel Memory
_and that other stuff.

I like the 9800 256 mb but i heard (hardocp) the updated drivers suck so bad that it only gets 10 fps.
I dont really want to buy a 5900 256 mb but it gets 60 fps on doom 3.

Which is the better card to get for my system and budget.
Is there another graphics card i should be thinking about instead.

Well unfortuanately HardOCP is full of retards. Not really but the 9800 256mb is very 1337 for you. The 10fps was only benched on Doom ]I[ alpha which is dumb. Get it
