Is a 2600MP compatible w/ the KT333 Ultra Platinum???
I have a brand new retail 2600MP still in the package, but I don't want to open it if it's not going to work... ANYONE HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS SITUATION??? I posted under cpu but got no response

I think so... there isn't much difference between the XP and MP. The MP is only tested for multiprocessor support while the XP is not.

Yes, XP and MP are the same. XP may work in multiprocessing mode, but AMD does not guarantee this mode for XP.
I wonder if the MP is able to operate at high FSB like XP.

Well I put it in and it does work, but I had to reset the cmos to get it to boot...hmm I don't really get that but no matter. Only thing is, Windows XP shows it as a XP instead of a MP, and the L2 Cache is reading 256k in regedit so, I changed it to reflect what it's supposed to be (512k).

What fsb are you running at? 266? Is your 2600+ the 266 or 333 version? give me as many details as you can... I have a KT333 Ultra (black), and I have a friend who wants to buy my 1900+, so I will need to upgrade soon. Soyo says these boards do not support anything above 2600+ 266 fsb, and that includes all cpu's with the 512 L2 cache... but if I can get a Barton working in this motherboard... well, I still think it will be easier to get a 2400+

At Newegg, the retail prices are $98 for the 2500+ (333) and $90 for the 2400+ (266)

I do not see many 2600+ (266) for sale... you sure you have the version with 512 L2 cache...

Are you sure it a 512KB L2 cache version... because I didn't know there where Barton MP2600+ already out there.

And you probably had to reset the BIOS because the MP2600+ uses a different identification bit.
