Embarrassed to ask but here it goes... Just built my first computer and I'm having problems with the sleep mode. My PC has several fans - some came in the case itself - and they are not shutting off when it is on sleep mode. Not sure if it matters but I am using Windows XP. Is there a setting anywhere or do I have to keep the fans on constantly? Thanks for the help!

They should indeed turn off.

How are your fans connected? Directly to the PSU, or with the motherboard or something else like a fan controller?

My CPU fan spins so fast that it creates a wormhole

jagedlion,
Try looking in your BIOS at your power management settings. There should be something like ACPI Suspend Type (that's what mine was), which needs to be set to S3 (Suspend to RAM). It worked for me!

I believe with S3 'suspend to ram' you need to install the OS while it is enabled... I tried S3 and it didnt work for me either.
S1 is good enough with hibernate mode though.
