Company of Heroes graphics issue

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to run Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor on my new system. I feel as though I have more than enough by far to run this game on ultra settings but when I perform the performance test, I get average ratings. I downloaded it from Steam. I'm sure this question has been asked before but is there anything special I need to do? Does the game have issues with Directx 11? I've posted by system below. Thanks.

  1. What kind of FPS on what settings?
  2. I play this game all the time and for what its worth (I AM NOT a tech guy!) shadows always kill my performance. As soon as I turn them either down or off things go much smoother. Also, unlike certain Blizzard games, you can play COH off line with your profile all while keeping your saves and stats. Lastly, COH seems to hate virus protection and can be severly hampered by any shiled being on.

I'm getting 23 fps max. I have everything on ultra that I can set to ultra. I am running anit-aliasing on x4.

So if I were to play the game offline with my antivirus off, would I potentially see a dramatic improvement?
  5. Those are all little things I do to help me improve performance. If you have a high end system it may not make a huge difference for an older game but as suggestions go it doesn't hurt to try them. Turning the shadows off are the big thing for me but again that may be my graphics card. Try it; if you don't notice a change just turn in all back on.

What I was trying to say was that I feel my system should be able to blow this game out of the water, given my system and the game's age. I could be wrong though. But I will try playing it offline. I'm wondering if it is because I got it from steam potentially, but I really have no clue.
