If my goal is to run a Barton 2500+ at 2.1 to 2.2 GHz, what is the best coller for its price currently at newegg? My room does get warm with a lot of computers running in it.

I want it to be able to work with a 2400+ as well... for that is my current cpu.

a thermalright SLK-800 or 900 with an 80mm fan to match your desired noise level

I am way behind the game on my cooling research...

A local vendor has a "Volcano 7" for 25.99 + tax. It has an 80 mm fan that runs at 2 different speeds. Will that do the job for me?

2400+ @ 2.25 GHz...

probably not...you have a 2400+ running at 2.25 right now? what's wrong with THAT cooler, that seems pretty good to me
in any case, a volcano 7+ would do a much better job than the volcano 7, the noise may bother you though. even on medium it's slightly annoying. that's up to you though
on overclockers, the v7+ is rated at .30C/W while the v7 is given a very average .42, so the load temp difference on a cpu running at about 80W will be like 10C - a pretty big difference when going for overclocking stability
the V7+ is pretty cheap too, like $35 total i think. read the noise ratings though and decide if that will bother you. to be honest, i'm not sure the V7 is any quieter

No, I currently am running my 2400+ @ 2133, and my temp is 46 C at idle on a non hot day, but it was idle at 49 C last week and at 52+ or so with load...

My goal is 2.25, yet with the voltage increase needed and the faster speed, I do not think my stock AMD cooler could take that speed.

Thanks for the advice, though... I will not get the Volcano 7. I printed off some good stuff on the SK7 and SLK800U, but those are higher priced and do not come with a fan... I am just not ready to blow $50.00 on a heatsink with no fan, and then have to research about what fan to use... getting the money just to upgrade to a 2400+ was a task... so i sould be content with 2133... but I want more!

you can get a volcano 7+ from cooler express for $23 total ($19+4)
here's their reseller ratings page. everything recent is good except for a guy who ordered 2 day shipping and hadn't gotten his package on the 3rd day

also, i don't know where you're checking your prices, but i think going to http://www.pricewatch.com and then checking the companies' reseller ratings is the best idea, unless newegg is competitively priced - then just go with them
