I am installing an evercool heatsink on an AMD 2500+ barton. Do i need to use thermal gel, and if so do i only need to put it on the middle part of the AMD chip since that is the only place the heat sink is in contanct with the chip, other then the rubber stoppers. Any information on what i need to do to mount it would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, you do need to. Artic Silver, etc. You have the location right. A very thin layer.

If its a retail box, read the big coloured instructions.
If its just the CPU, read the AMD instructions online.

Reading evercools instructions may also help.

on another note, have u actually seen the retail AMD HSF instillation instructions?

A big glossy full colour A3 sheet with big pictures and a 5-6 step procedure.
Don't get much clearer than that!
IMHO if you cant follow them u dont deserve to use a PC lol.

Well, I know about the virtual crap. Can only take your word about the real stuff. My vision's pretty good, but I can't see all the way to Foster's Land. It's that whole curvature-of-the-earth thing that messes me up, really.

Hmm, it's too bad she didn't score a 69, then.

(I'm not even sure what a 98 IS  )
