Far Cry 3 low frame rate in multiplayer

So I've noticed that in the single player mode my frame rate is at 60 on high custom settings 1920x1080 but in multiplayer my frame rate is between 30-60 constantly, never a smooth rate. I have the latest NVIDIA drivers installed as well. I've edited my settings in notepad++ to get 60 fps by disabling depth of field and turning off SSAO. Specs are below.

Intel Core i7 2600k 4.4GHz OC
Geforce GTX 680
8GB DDR3 1600
Corsair SSD
Windows 8 Pro 64bit
Corsair H50 CPU cooler
850W Cougar PSU.

I completely agree, I experience the same thing on a similar system. I also have custom settings 1920x1080, mostly very high/ ultra with 2x MSAA and V-Sync. Frame rate drops considerably in multiplayer and lowering the graphics settings don't help much. I haven't tried the notepad settings yet.
