Cant connect my 360 to the internet

ok ppl ive tried connecting my xbox 360 to the internet via ethernet cable..i ran the cable frm the router to the 360, tried connecting it and it keeps saying to plug in the ethernet cable to both the router and xbox (i already did) so can someone plz help me figure this out n yes ive reset the router

Did you do the network settings in xbox?
