ok so im getting an amd 2500 barton cus i heard it was good for overclocking. Also i am getting an nforce 2 board not sure which one yet. I was wondering about the memory. I have been told that better quality memory is better for overclocking eg crucial or kingston. But the thing is instead of gettin 2700 which is what amd requires..i think wouldnt it be better to get somethin like 3500 memory. what i dont understand is cud i get away with having cheaper 3500 ram rather than more expensive 2700 if that makes ne sense, ne help with be appreciated. thanx

If your going the nforce 2 route and overclocking then I recommend the epox 8rda3+ board as it will give you all the multipliers you will need and it has voltage choices upto 2.2v for the cpu. If you want to run at 200mhz FSB then just get some twinmos pc3200 cas 2.5,3,3,6 memory. If you want to get the most performance out of the epox board, it should do upto 230mhz FSB with the latest bios, i havn't tried that high yet to verify this though. I recommend getting either Twinmos pc 3700 and run at upto 233mhz FSB or Corsair 3500 and run at 217mhz with 2/3/3/6 timings.

Personally I would get the Twinmos pc 3700 as it lets you get the highest speed at a reasonable cost but I guess its down to your budget. Just for your info, im running a tbred 2100 on the epox board with 200mhz Twinmos memory thats stable at cas 2/3/3/6 and it was a lot cheaper than corsair etc. Also the difference between cas 2-2.5 is about 200 3dmarks in 3dmark2001 or 1-2fps in a game. Not that much really.....
