I've recently upgraded to an Abit KD7-E motherboard that I'm told comes with onboard sound. However, I have a creative sound card and not sure how to disable the sound via the BIOS.

Can anybody offer me some advice ?

Thanks,

Gee

I thought that but can't find anything in the integrated periphirals that has AC97 Disable/Enable that I've been recommended to do.

Should I contact the manufacturer for help ?

depending on the board, it should detect that you have a soundcard in a slot and automatically disable the onboard sound (PCI spec 2.1 i believe)

but if there is onboard sound, then it has to be listed under the integrated peripherals section of the BIOS

otherwise, go check the co's website, it should contain a full list of ALL recent mobos and you can download the manual for it...

Trust me I know what I'm doing... ooops, grab the cat...

You're sure you have the KD7-E and not the KD7-S? The E doesn't have any onboard sound while the S does.

Thanks just found out that it doesn't have sound onboard ! After some much digging, I've found that it is to do with the VIA chipset (??) and I'm trying to get the correct drivers/chipset to rectify it.

You got the KT400 chipset from Via... the latest VIA Hyperion 4in1 drivers should be anything you need. You can find them here: http://www.viaarena.com
