Recomended CPU Temps

Im running an Alpha PAL8045 and using Artic Silver Ceramica paste on a 2600 Barton. Im using a 12db Papst Fan that cannot be heard. My ASUS Motherboard Utility says my temps are arround 49C/120F. Is that a safe temp?

If that's as high as you're getting, it's fine.

It's safe...well under the threshold. Although with that heatsink + ceramique, if you used a more powerful fan, you would be getting much lower temps. But that probably doesn't matter as I assume you are going for that "silent" thing. To me, a computer just isn't a computer if doesn't make some noise. If it is too quiet it makes me wonder if has stopped working.
