At a glance this seems pretty cool. Aren't a lot of Athlon XP's unlocked already? The 1700+ T'bred B is famous for that. I think the 2100+ is also unlocked, just change the setting in the bios in most new K7 type boards.

Yes, but mostly only for a specific range (12.5x and lower or 13x and higher)... also Palomino's aren't factory unlocked.

Personally I don't like the idea of such a thick thing between my CPU and socket making it very hard to install normal coolers.

I love my Delta 60HP 7000 RPM fan that puts out more dB then CFM
