i tried overclocking the following system by 5% and failed. Was wondering if anyone can give me any suggestions.
3.0ghz HT p4
asus p4c800 deluxe
2 512megs of winbond ram
1 sata 80gig(seagate) 2 80 gig western dig 1 60gig deskstar
extra network card
i have a 530w power supply by enermax
and my comp runs at 38 C idle and 48-50C with full load.

I set my memory timing to 2-2-2-5or6 and just tried 5% overclock in the bios settings and it failed to boot up. I was wondering if it was a temp problem or should i lower my timings?

thanks
-Steve

well, i'm not totally sure. but i've read on some other sites that twinmos ram with winbond chips must have the 2nd number in the timings set to 3, so try 2-3-2-5 or 2-3-2-7. also the voltage may need to be set to 2.9

Death is the only adventure you have left

The memory timing would most likely be the best way to go. 2-2-2-7 work? It's not the '7' if it doesn't etc.

Try reducing your memory ratio. Bring it down so you are not pushing the meory so hard. You should be able to get up to what you want. There are no guarantees in this overclocking world. You may be stuck at what you got already.
