My new 1700 JIUHB DLT3C 0327 just arrived this morning. I didnt mess about, went straight to 2.2ghz on 1.64 volts. Ran prime 95 for a few hours no probs. Its a shame its so hot and its running at 51C full load. I did try 2364mhz on 1.75 volts but it got to 59C and crashed 30 mins into prime 95. Should be back to norm this weekend (29c outside atm 24 for this weekend) and the AS3 will have settled by then so hopefully i can get it back to 2364. Seriously thinking about either getting the SLK900 to replace my SK7 or going the water cooling route.

Ive only had it a few hours and its a strange thing. At first i was running fine at 2.2ghz 1.65v but I just started it up again and it restart about 1 minute into prime 95 for some reason? I upped the voltage to 1.7 and it SEEMS to be stable but whats going on? Temps atm are 51 load, surely thats not high enough to cause instabilities in this chip as my 2100 would run fine upto 60C.

Many COngratulations and GOOD LUCK!! with ur 9700 PRO mod too!!

Heh thanks. I guess 2.2ghz will have to do until it gets cool again. 32 degrees is a little higher than ideal to have a pc in. And onto the 9700mod, well i kinda gave up after i installed the copper hs and ramsinks, could only do 337/320. Maybe ill try again later...

man at least u r lucky. my t-bred B 1700+ maxes out at 2170MHz. But then its a JIUHB-DUT3C. I cud run my CPU at 2000MHz at 1.675V but 2170MHz needs as much as 1.92V Vcore. Ur CPU running at 2364MHz gives u a 3000+ rating!!

Yeah and the best is yet to come. Only had it running a few hours, still needs to settle in. By the weekend i expect to be over 2.4ghz :).

As soon as i saw the pure grey colour of the dye, i knew it was a good chip. Its too hot at the moment, a nice 31C the past 2 days, god knows how hot it is in here. Running at 2.2ghz/1.7v its idling at 45C, a nice 6-12C hotter than normal. BTW my 2100 is up for sale, does 2.3ghz on 1.9 volts hehe...

Well, i think it was after I told u that i was running my CPU at 1.92V for about 2 months that u went as high as 1.9V on Vcore....right??

Oh yeah. I was worried as I never tried overclocking so high with higher voltages before, but some people use upto 2.1 volts. So that 2100 sat at 2295mhz for 4 weeks but me being me I just had to try the new batch of 1700's.. heh.

BTW solved my stability probs (random restarts). Seems it just needed an extra 0.025 volts on each setting I tested.

Got it upto 2376mhz on 1.86 volts but ive settled for 2352 with cpu interface set to agressive. Im only at 196mhz FSB but this setting on my board gives performance of an extra 120-160mhz cpu speed, but can be unstable (basically overclocks memory - cpu latencies). Ran 3dmark @ 2374/198fsb and got 16060 3dmarks in 2001se. At 2352 w/agg interface and 196fsb I get 16200 almost spot on (average of 3 runs). One thing I did note is the lobby test on high detail I get 95.8fps. On my 2100@2.3 I got 93.6 with radeon at stock speeds. Decent gain if you ask me for a little over £40 :).

It will go higher, no doubt. But im maxing out at 56C loaded. When the AS3 settles it will probably never go above 54C. I just need convincing that either the slk900 or watercooling is worth the upgrade in cooling. But saying that, 2350mhz/1.86 volts is fairly high for a 1470mhz/1.5v and im actually idling in the 40's so if I have to stay at this, I wont be too unhappy :P

The high temp is mostly due to the high Vcore. My CPU idles at 40C when i run it at 1.8V Vcore, even though the clock runs at 2083MHz (12.5*166). With lower Vcore, at 1.65V Vcore, and 2000MHz, my CPU wud idle at 34C.

Just a little update. Finally made up my mind. Until I get better cooling or decide this chip is too slow, im staying at 2376mhz on 1.85v. I didnt realise just how fast this chip is. Just ran Sandra Max 3 and its faster than the 3ghz p4 and on terms with the 3.2. I think ill get some faster memory, say some 3500 and run it at 215x11 and get some more memory bandwith. It will then probably perform as fast as the top intel cpus...

Where did you get your chip? I'm thinking of getting a 1700 but the only place I know that sells them is newegg.

Got mine from www.cpucity.co.uk, a uk site. They let you know what batches have good dye colour, tell you the codes of the cpu on the page and are very cheap.

Well you need to consider your mobo before you get the slk-900u i got the swiftech mcx462+ because i failed to bend my a7n8x capacitors enough for the installation of SLK-900U

I hate Computers! I could only overclock my Barton 2500+ to 2580mhz(vcore 1.65). My Radeon 9700pro core/mem speed won't go above 410/720. I really hate computers!

Hey Scottchen.

What did you have to do to install that swiftech cooler, coz I heard all crazy stuff about it and im considering getting one. I heard its so cool it can create condensation????

Well the Swiftech Cooler is really easy to install compare to the SLK900U since all it's requried is the 4 mounting holes on your mobo, shove the 4 screws through and you're pretty much done. If the mobo has the mounting holes, it will have no problem mounting the mcx462. The SLK900U on the other hand is top of the line however lots of mobo had to bend the capacitors, and I got a crystal orb on my north bridge so there's no way i could bend them. If you're buying the Swiftech MCX462+ you'll definently need something with 80CFM or more, it comes with 92mm fan mounting system, so I got the 92mm Vantec Tornado. This is a REALLY loud cooling solution but it's really good. my Barton 2500+ CPU at 12* 215FSB(2580mhz) only 28 IDLE and 36 LOAD. I have my case opened, you have to think about it before you buy this cooling set because it does push near 60 decibals of noise and 120CFM.
