I've been reading about overclocking the 2500+. I am considering buying one and an Nforce2 MB. I keep reading about these insane FSB overclocks. Doesn't FSB overclocking still O/C the AGP and PCI busses? Are the new components (MB, graphics card, hard drives, sound card, ect) better at handling O/C these days? Is there somthing I'm missing?

the nforce2 chipset locks the pci bus at a certain fequency (33mhz isnt it??) hence the overclocks :)

Oh well. thats a very good feature. Why didn't someone think of that before? What about the AGP bus? Is that locked also? AGP is 66mghz and PCI is 33. What about the 865/875 intel chipset. Does it have the same feature? I hear the new P4s with HT are overclockable too.

Thanks

nForce2: PCI runs at a fixed frequency - no need for a manual lock via BIOS. AGP is adjustable. PCI, AGP and FSB are independant of each other.

Canterwood/Springdale: PCI and AGP are lockable via BIOS.

It isn't worth it trying to overclock the AGP bus. There is practically no performance gain. The only way to get a boost is to oc your core and ram of your vid card. Read more @ SysOpt.com

Thanks for the article. It explained that AGP and PCI busses can be fixed or adjusted in the Nforce and 865/875 boards. That is very cool. An overclockers dream.

Thanks
