Hi

Can anyone tell me what I can safely take my Sapphire R9700Pro to overclocking wise?

I have unlocked the oc'ing in the drivers.

If you're using stock cooling, don't do the voltage mod, simply overclock to around 380/330(core/mem) anything higher you will see artifacts and your graphic card might crash. As long as you don't do Voltage mod, your graphic card's life-span shouldn't be affected.

I hate Computers! I could only overclock my Barton 2500+ to 2580mhz(vcore 1.65). My Radeon 9700pro core/mem speed won't go above 410/720. I really hate computers!

I couldnt even take it up to 350/330 without artifacts!!
Not running any voltage mod as far as I am aware.

FSB upto 140mhz but that is it.

It has 2.8ns RAM, so theoritically it could run at 357 MHz RAM easly IF they don't undervolt the RAM.

I love my Delta 60HP 7000 RPM fan that puts out more dB then CFM

Well my dad has Sapphire 9700 pro he pushed the core up to 400mhz, with Water-cooling, but i beat him by 10mhz with my Built By ATI 9700pro with Zalman passive heatsink. As for the ram, I used copper ramsinks so I beat my dad's 355(he used thermaltake aluminum ramsinks), when i managed to push to 360 without artifacts.

I hate Computers! I could only overclock my Barton 2500+ to 2580mhz(vcore 1.65). My Radeon 9700pro core/mem speed won't go above 410/720. I really hate computers!

A family overclocking competition... nice. That reminds me that I have to get myselve some RAMsinks as I ran out of them a year ago.

Edit: which do you use anyway?

I found a large piece of copper, chop it up with an hacksaw, make some fins, file then sand the base and done. Free copper ramsinks. But this cost effort.

Stock coolings sucks. Get a passive cooler or even a copper chipset cooler and skip the ramsinks. Some chips (like mine) dont like running the memory high. Back down the memory by 5-8mhz and try upping the gpu core.

My dad's a computer programmer, overclocking is just a hobby for him, he has water cooling because his company pays for it all. :(

Hey scottchen. Why dont you take it higher than 2580? Up the vcore to 1.75 and aim for 2.7ghz...

Jeeeeeez... you got the CPU with the potential to set a nice record (not the highest though)... OC the crap out of it.

Anyway I think I'm going to buy some Coolermaster copper DIMM heatsink and cut them in two so they fit perfectly on a BGA memory chip. Tweakmonster RAMsink are way to expensive and only have lots of eye-candy and I don't have the tools and the copper to make my own ones. Or I can find a nice copper U1 CPU heatsink soemwhere at a local store.

You're dad is very lucky BTW, free OC'ing stuff. I'm just a student so I have to pay for everything myselve. Why doesn't he buy a phase-change system though and give you the watercooler... if the company pays.

I told him that, he's trying to get it for me. Still waiting on it, because the company just gave him the Swiftech MCX462+ which he gave to me right away since he has watercooling.
