Just got my T-bred 1800+ last night. Currently I am running 220x8.0 and I love it. My memory is crap, so Tomorrow I will be getting back my old Corsair stuff that would o/c extremely well and I will probably try and run it in sync.

Just gotta love these T-breds.

220x8.0 = 1760MHz. THats not a very good overclock even for a Palamino. Now u say u got a t-bred; try to increase the Multiplier. I bet u cud do with 220x10 and if u r lucky, u cud even go upto 220x10.5. Keep us posted.

I am running my t-bred B DUT3C 1700+ at 12*166, as i am running DDR333 memory. The max clock i have reached is 2170MHz but at 1.95V Vcore.

I got into windows okay at 10x220@1.85V but I decided that it was to warm for my usage so I backed off to 9x220 now. I haven't got the greatest case cooling yet, so I need to keep it down right now. My CPU idles @ 41C and Full
load at 45C.

It takes 2 70cfm fans, an open case and a 12 inch fan to cool my 2376mhz/1.85 volt 1700 tbred to 56C load :p .

Your pretty close to stock speed for a 1800 and ur at 45C load :/ . Better get the case open and stick a big fan in there :) . At stock speeds my 1700 idles at 34C and 37C load. It goes up 4C every .075 volts. At 1.85 volts you should go to 2.2ghz easily as i reach that at just 1.75v. It really helps having the case side off and a fan cooling the whole board/gfx and cpu.

Just keep it under 60C and dont go over 1.9v and you will be fine.

Why dont u try reducing the FSB little and increase the multiplier? The multipliers are unlocked till 12.5. Reducing the FSB will reduce the strain on the memory and the chipset.

My 1700+ at 2000MHz/1.675V Vcore and with the HSF running at 2400rpm (tnx to the ASUS Q-Fan) idles at 34C and at full load reaches 41C. But when i overclock it to 2140MHz/1.92V Vcore, the CPU idles at 45C and full load hits more than 55C, upto 58C sometimes.

Congrats there! thats a nice overclock! that brings us to the question - what next?

BTW, u also hae a 9800 Pro right?

Naa, i was gonna get one if i couldnt overclock my 9700 to what its at now. As for whats next, im gonna stick my spare 80mm fan on there instead of the crappy one that came with the heatsink. Should do 354 maybe 360 if im lucky then ;)

aaah.. i wish life was that easy around here too. u know it wud be months before i cud get a 9800PRO here. As for the 9700 Pro, the Hercules one costs about US$750 when converted from the Indian Rupee.

5242 is a very good score for a 9700 Pro. What was ur earlier best score? i tried the link from ur previous post but it says its invalid. I think u dont have that project active anymore.

Awww thats cute. I think my calculator could get a better score than that LOL. If gw doesnt want my card when i upgrade, its yours m8. No one should have to put up with a gf4 mx! My old score was just above 5200. About 5212 or something.

wow, I beat your 9700pro with my 9500 NP? Must be my FSB speed helping me out. Though clock for clock you beat me.

You said the max you had it running at was 10x220. Extra 20mhz in 3dmark01 will add 250+- points and about 10 points in 03. Your cpu is only clocked at 2.2ghz, mines at 2376, that alone will make up for the FSB as ive tried similar settings. Whats your 9500np running at and what scores did you get ?

what did u score?

Well, GW did not want ur card for a reason. And that reason was u shud keep ur card even when u upgrade just in case  . Tnx a ton for ur generous offer. Now i want to get a damn good card all the more

For same CPU clock speeds, even i noticed i got better scores in 3D MArk2001 when i had the FSB higher. So 206 is the max u cud hit?

I had to up the voltage as over 200mhz before i would get crashes in counterstrike (even though the other tests ran fine). Now at 2.8V instead of 2.66 @ 206mhz and cl2. You think I can take it higher? Its only rated for cl2.5 @ 200mhz (twinmos). I know the board will do 230mhz +- though but in the tests I looked at my memory kinda maxed out at what im at now with cl2.

HEy, why dont u try higher FSB with CL2.5? I am sure u wud cud go pretty high with CL2.5.

I'd rather keep CL2 coz its worth 5-7mhz of CL2.5. Maybe I can hit 214mhz with this ram. Think i'll try later. The fact that i'm at 206 @ CL2 already shows this must be better than the ones in the review. They only went to 201mhz @ CL2. I think ill ask in the memory forum and do a seperate post asking for opinions on my memory going upto 215mhz... Always nice to know if someones already at that speed :p

Sorry it took me so long I haven't checked the boards since yesterday morning.

I am going to try and bench 10x220 when I get my corsair mem back today. That bench was 9x221. Hopefully I will be able to bench 10x221 when I get that mem. It has been hot around here in KENT WA lately though so my temps were up a bit.

Ah your at 380gpu clock lol. And btw mask i got to 214fsb fine @ cl2.5 but ive settled for 203mhz with agressive interface for fsb and cpu enabled and 2334mhz cpu speed. Just got 16790 in 2001 (faster than 206mhz fsb and 2369 cpu). Gonna bench 3dmark03 again and aim for 5300+ :p

i am sure that if u set it at CL2.5 u cud easily do 220+. I saw scotchen do 231 on his Kingston Hyper-X PC2700..

Na i tried, got to 214 ran ok, 215 3dmark01 crashed straight away.Maxed out on voltage too... And i think my 9700pro may be overheating even at stock speeds coz i got an error HL caused an invalid page fault in
module ATIO9XXX.DLL at 0177:691f5038 after playing cs for about 6 hours lol cpu temp was 60C board was 35C thats with case open too. Its coz it gets too warm in here ( over 30c easily).... Maybe time for some air con :p

60C is very high with the case open. It definitely needs some serious cooling. What HSF do u use? The stock one?

Take my advice, I don't use it anyway.
July 22, 2003 11:16:50 PM

I got to that speed is because i changed the ram timing to 5-3-3-2.5

I hate Computers! I could only overclock my Barton 2500+ to 2645mhz. My Radeon 9700pro core/mem speed won't go above 410/720. I really hate computers!
July 23, 2003 4:04:06 AM

u noticed any performance difference between CL2-2-2-5 and CL2.5-3-3-5 set-up? I am getting a single stick of DDR400 Hyper-X as soon as its available here. SO i was wondering.

Take my advice, I don't use it anyway.
July 23, 2003 4:41:05 AM

yeah, the noise from the HSF cud be very annoying sometimes. I am happy with my stock HSF (that came with my 1700+ t-bred B). Runs at 3300rpm by default and when the Q-Fan kicks in the HSF runs at 2300 rpm. Even then its good at cooling. Not the best, but good.

Take my advice, I don't use it anyway.
July 23, 2003 4:58:35 AM

I didn't see performance difference, but in benchmarks, the higher frequency seems to matter more than timing.
