I'm running this system;

p4 2.4C 800FSB
MSI neo2 865PE chipset
Crucial 512MB DDR333 Ram
MSI FX5600 256MB
2 X 60 gig Seagate ATA100 Hard drives
Antec Plusview 1000AGm case
Antec P4 PSU 330W 12V with Smartpower

The case has 2 80m fans blowing air in and I have just fitted a thermal blow fan to draw hot air out.( fits on an PCi slot)

I'm running MSI core Centre programme and its telling me that my system temp is 30 c and my CPU temp is 41 c idle. After some gaming my CPU temp goes up to about 53 c. I'm running the CPU with the supplied Intel fan (no thermal paste).

I tried to overclock the CPU to 220 FSB and up the voltage to 1.6 volts, but all it did was crash as soon as windows loads. I thought the 2.4 C was good for overclocking.

What am I doing wrong?

Well taking the fsb higher will overclock your memory so it might just be maxed out. Also your temps are on the high side.
