hey all,

ive been banging my head with this problem. hope you guys can help me figure whats wrong. first the specs:

xp2500+ @ 2200 mhz 200*11 w/ tt 7+ hsf
msi k7n2g-l nforce2 mb
(2) 256 sticks of kingston value ram ddr3200 in ddr slots & 1 512 stick of kingston value ram ddr3200 in the last slot. 3-3-3-11
gainward gf4 ti4200 128
dvd player - cant remember brand
floppy
(4) case fans - 2 in - 2 out

now my problem is that in games and benchmarking programs i have lock up after about 10 mins. i have tried different settings in my bios and always the same result. i have the latest bios from msi. any help would be appreciated.

How much watt is your PSU? And hwat are your CPU and case temps?

Also try Memtest86 to check your RAM for instability... sometimes you can get problems mixing different types of RAM.

I love my Delta 60HP 7000 RPM fan that puts out more dB then CFM

It's probably not the heat, since u have 4 casefans, could be power supplies, make sure u put ram speed on auto.

I hate Computers! I could only overclock my Barton 2500+ to 2645mhz. My Radeon 9700pro core/mem speed won't go above 410/720. I really hate computers!

i have a 400w allied psu. my temps run at 40 at idle & 50ish inder load for cpu. system temps run oddly warmer. roughly about 5 degrees warmer. i tried memtest and it locks up like 3dmark and cs.

the weird thing is, when i first oced i went and did sandra burn in 10 times and it went without a prob. after that i tried 3dmark and thats when the lock ups began. now anything i try locks up after a few mins including sandra.

i tried the memory at auto, still same problem.

the thing that gets me is that the computer just hardlocks, there are no crashes to desktop or restarts.

im really confused about what i should try next. help is always appreciated.

update:

reset my bios to default 2500+ speeds and had my ram at 333mhz.

tried prime95. got an error after an hour. then did memtest. on test #7 got 8093 errors. looked like the errors went up to about 512 megs.

does this mean my ram is bad? im pretty discouraged as this was on stock speeds, so any help would be appreciated.

Not necessary... could also be CPU cache problem or overheating (you said your system temps where high).

Try running it with the side panel off and/or with Cache set disabled in Memtest86.

ok ill try that when i get home.

last night i tested the 512 & (2) 256 sticks seperately and they all tested fine in memtest. so i think they just dont like each other. however when i tried running 3dmark with the individual sticks i still get the lock ups.

i also forgot i just updated my bios recently. before that i was able to run @ 2800+ speeds stabily. now it seems stocks speed are having problems.

thanks for your help so far svol.
