Hi all,

First time overclocking but I've read some here and there and it seems pretty simple (changing the BIOS settings..)

Anyways, here's my issue:
I have the MSI K7 Master (MS-6341) MOBO and a AthlonXP 2100+ (Palomino) CPU. If you look at the company website:

http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=93&MODEL=MS-6341

The XP 2100+ is the HIGHEST cpu my old MOBO supports. My question is, if I'm too bump my FSB from 266 to 333 (changing from DDR2100 -> DDR2700) would the older MOBO be able to support it? I can't really check to see without the new ram I would need to get, and I don't want to get the new ram if my MOBO can't support the higher clock speeds.

Also, all the CPU info about the MOBO is here:

http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/cpu_support/cpu/spt_cpu_detail.php?UID=93 &NAME=MS-6341

Thanks in advance,

Jordan

No your mobo only support 266MHz FSB... at 333 MHz the PCI and AGP clock will be way to high and your northbridge will probably not be able to handle it. So I don't think you will get your FSB much higher then 150MHz if you can reach that at alol (depends on your memory quality).

Another thing you can try is multiplier OC'ing by using a simple pin mod (which can be undone whenever you want) by placing tine wires in specific socket holes. You can find more info about that here: <A HREF="http://www.ocinside.de/go_e.html?/html/workshop/pinmod/amd_pinmod.html" target="_new">http://www.ocinside.de/go_e.html?/html/workshop/pinmod/amd_pinmod.html</A>

But you first need to figure out which type of CPU you got, Palomino or T-bred. You can do this by downloading WCPUID and checking which model number your CPU has:
6 is Palomino
7/8 is T-bred A/B.

If you got a Palomino core you probably won't get it much higher though.

I love my Delta 60HP 7000 RPM fan that puts out more dB then CFM
