A quick check in oc.com cpu database shows this stepping gets from 2.2ghz (1.7v) to 2.7ghz (1.95v). Can anyone confirm this?

it seems to be the newest core stepping...

3 386DX-25's...12 volts...glue some ln2 and a wicked amount of overclocking and you get a willamantee minus 36 pins, 33.75 million transistors and a couple hundred mhz...

Umm, if you hit 2.7 I'll be pissed off, because I don't like the idea of somebody beating my 2.645Ghz.

LOL

I hate Computers! I could only overclock my Barton 2500+ to 2645mhz. My Sapphire 9800pro core/mem speed won't go above 475/750. I really hate computers!

lol well theres no guarentee I will beat it but these new batches seem very good overclockers. All I know is 90% of the new ones do 2.2ghz on stock voltage and 70-80% do over 2.5ghz with higher voltage, just depends on the quality of the individual chip.

W00t! I just emailed the store and they have a few in with a grey core, so I'm ordering one of them tomorrow. They just said make sure to put that the reason for ordering was that I want one with a grey core and they will send me the best one they have in. Geez I'm so excited hehe.

Speeduk do you have water-cooling?

I hit 2.5G with stock voltage, but it's on Asus A7n8x and god knows how far Asus overvoltaged it already.

Good luck Speeduk, careful not to kill your chip though.

Na I don't have/need watercooling. I do have 2 smartfans on an SK7 though and a big 12" fan. Im not looking for a monster overclock, just something over 2.4ghz will do me on close to stock voltages. Looking at my 2100 that did 2.3ghz on 1.9v, it ran at 45C idle and 51 load with my current cooling setup so with the bartons extra core size, I should hit 2.4-2.5ghz easily (if the chip is good enough).

I'll probably have next wednesday off work and let you know how it goes later in the week.

Heh, if I kill my chip, I have a 2100 that does 2.3ghz and a 1700 that does 2.4ghz as backup. :)

Later on I'll probably get some 233mhz twinmos and run the FSB at 220-225 with low latency and get some ub0r bandwith and match the top p4 systems. And if heat becomes an issue and holds me back overclocking the 2500, I'll just get a 900u and some AS ceramique and knock 5C + off temps.

Well the thing is the bandwidth of Athlon can never catch up with Intel and their HyperThreading.

Oh I know that, but 3.3gb/s with a barton @ 2.5ghz should match the overall performance of the top P4's. Besides the P4's have 5gb/s badwidth. It would take an nforce 2 mobo running at 333mhz to match the P4's lol. Just shows you how fast the xp cpus are with that much of a memory speed deficit.... Hmmm, one can dream...
