DVD drive not in My Computer

Since your title doesn't match your post, I'm assuming that you mean that it doesn't.

Has it ever? Generally if it doesn't show up it has either failed or the cable has come unplugged. Keep in mind that it may have the power cable plugged in (which means that it will open and closed) but if the cable that connects it to the motherboard is not completely plugged in windows will not see it.

Try this!

Click on Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Right click Command Prompt -> Run as administrator.

Paste the following line and hit enter afterwards

bcdedit /set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS

This should solve the problem of DVD drives not being recognized in Windows 7.
