I was thinking of OC'ing my Duron 800 using the current cooling I have (Heatsink/Fan).

I know currently that it runs at a low temp (its been running for 1 hour 30min at low load, and I can touch the heatsink without feeling any heat whatsoever). However, I do recall checking the temp after an 8 hour gaming session where the temp was around 60 (According to the ASUS PC Probe)

Anyone recommend a reasonable speed to overclock to using the current setup, and what voltages I should change to ?
and how much of a performance increase should I expect ?

System info:
Win98SE
Asus A7PRO (KT133, with AWARD BIOS)
256MB PC133 RAM
Radeon 9000 64MB DDR
Motorola 56K
SB Vibra 128

I dont think you can do anything to that rig. Its a piece. Just leave it alone.

Anyone who clames they can tell the difference between 450 and 500 FPS in Quake 3 should be severly beaten in the head with a rock.

Hmmm 60 C at full load after some time is kinda high to OC. Is the case temp also very high after that time... if so you might want to place 1 or 2 casefans or remove the side pannel. It is also better to use MBM 5 to measure the CPU temp as Asus PC-Probe is known to be way off some times.

I love my Delta 60HP 7000 RPM fan that puts out more dB then CFM

Dont even bother. Just get a new cpu like a umm.. i dont know. I would suggest a Barton 2500+ but I doubt your mother board would support the 166mhz FSB or even a 133 mhz fsb and if it does you probably have PC 100 memory that wouldnt go that high. Do I hear uprgrade time?

if you have cas 2 pc100 get a 1700+ and set the memory to cas 3...it should be able run pc133 at cas 3

If i put my k6 in a Ferrari it would be faster than your your pentium 4 or Athlon XP

Problem is that he gots a KT133 mobo and not the KT133A. Many KT133 mobo's don't run at 133MHz FSB at all.

hmm...not even with chipset cooling...

i have had heard very little about them...

That is because the KT133 got soon replaced with the KT133A because it didn't do what it was supposed to do. And I dunno if cooling will help, at 133 MHz it shouldn't run that hot and is probably already active cooled.

I've got a second system ready to be built up out of old parts so I've got
Duron 800
KT266 board
2X256 SD@133 (Crucial)

How far do you reckon I can OC it?

AMD Is An Anagram Of MAD, Intel Is An Anagram Of INLET, Cyrix...Ah Who Cares?
