I'm not sure if I comprehend, any CPU you need Thermal Grease to keep your chip in solid form instead of liquid, if you meant is it necessary to buy premium Thermal grease Arctic silver 3 etc, then depends, if you're planning to overclock then definently yes, if not the stock thermal pad whould do the job.

I hate Computers! My Sapphire 9800pro core/mem speed won't go above 490/790. I really hate computers!

Thermal greases all perfrom approximately equal. I saw a review by some Australian guy (sorry, don't have the link) who was using Artic Silver (which all the OCers rave about) and had good numbers. He then compared a bunch of different cooling pastes, including VEGAMITE!!!. The vegamite (until it dried out), kepped the CPU at only 4 C hotter than the ArticSilver. The other CPU greases were virtually the same with minor 1 deg variations. Just apply a thin layer to the CPU and make sure that both surfaces are clean.
