i have an slk-800u (thermaltake smartfan 2 running at full blast) with a p4 2.8 800mhz FSB processor, asus p4p800 deluxe mobo and 512mb of hyperX pc3500. but with all this i'm still having troubles overclocking. once i got it to 3.5ghz but my cpu was in the upper 40s just at idle and my CPU voltage was around 1.9. i didn't like the look of that so i took it down some to around 3.3ghz but still the cpu seemed much hotter than it should have because after a bit of gaming my CPU temp was 55. so i put it back down to stock settings and it runs around 33 at idle, but my stock fan had temps that good. my RAM timings are 2-3-2-6 like it says to have on the hyperX website. i tried 2-2-2-5 and that worked for non overclocking but it wouldn't allow me to overclock. my power supply is a thermaltake 420w dual fan. anybody have any suggestions? thanks

Well with that processor, running such an overclock, those temperatures aren't that bad, and its nothing to really worry about (though I might suggest you look at what kind of case cooling you've got, as it can be a big factor in CPU temps). Also, you're complaining about a 700Mhz OC? Though some have gone higher, you really can't compared one system's overclock to another, and you should be happy to have gotten what you did. Seriously, stop bi7ching.

As for the RAM timings, instead of putting them more aggresively like you did (hence not being able to overclock), loosen them up a little bit (i.e. increase the numbers), or at least allow it to run at par with the FSB (set it to HCLK).

If you want more, then get Vantec Tornado, that should lower your temp a little bit more. But that thing's kill your eardrums someday.

I hate Computers! My P4 2.4C won't go above 3840mhz. My Sapphire 9800pro core/mem speed won't go above 490/790. I really hate computers!

1.9V VCore with a Northwood? I wont recommend run a P4 like that over a long time as it might damage it... beside above 1.7V VCore increasements don't help much beside creating heat.

I love my Delta 60HP 7000 RPM fan that puts out more dB then CFM

Well i loosened my timings to 2-4-4-8 and i've got it up to 3.5ghz. i also lowered my vcore to 1.7v. temps are in upper 30s and lower 40s at idle

2.5-3-3-7, personally I think that's the best timing, that's the timing i used to get my 2700HyperX all the way to 230mhz.

Depends what you set you ram ratio at, i doubt if it's 1:1, it's probably on 3:2 ratio right now. In the jumper free tuning section, there's a dram frequency option and 400 means 1:1 syncronized with the FSB, 5:4 is the FSB:mem ratio and same with 3:2 Most ram can't go that high.
