Okay, I'm a total n00b to OCing so bear with me please.
I have a Barton 2800+ and GA-7N400 Pro with Kingston HyperX DDR333 memory. Here's the problems:
I can get the CPU multiplier to 13.5 when leaving FSB at 166 (so I'm guessing it's not locked). I can also get 12.5 when running 344 FSB. The problem is that if I:

A: Increase the multiplier at all at this point, FSB goes back to 333.
B: If I try increasing the FSB any more, well, the best way to say it is that it won't go any higher. No matter how high I set it in the BIOS it will only go to 172 (WCPUID and AIDA32 as reference).

So basicaly for now I'm running 166*13.5, and the other option is 172*12.5 (I'm guessing what I'm using now is better than the alt.). Can somebody tell me, what is the deal here? I thought it might be because of the memory, but it wouldn't be the memory that's forcing 166 when using greater than 13 multiplier, and I can't think of why the CPU would be doing it because leaving the multi. at any low level won't change that I can't run higher than 172, and I don't know why the CPU would do anything anyways since my understanding is that the Bartons are either:

1. Low-multi-unlocked
2. High-multi-unlocked
3. Both

and since I can run greater than 12.5 (13.5) and lower than that (9) I assume it is fully unlocked, tried increasing DIMM and Vcore as last resort and no luck, so I'm at a loss as to the deal here. Thanks in advance for any advice.

(also, I'm not just leaving 166FSB and increasing multi. because BSoD on boot above 13.5, but even when using, e.g. 9*FSB it won't allow more than 172MHz)

I think it does, most gigabyte boards does unlock all multipliers.

I hate Computers! My P4 2.4C won't go above 3840mhz. My Sapphire 9800pro core/mem speed won't go above 490/790. I really hate computers!

Thanks, this brings another question up that I've been wondering about, I always assumed it was better to clear the DMI pool and PnP data when updating just to start fresh and whatnot, but is it really?

You were right, I updated the BIOS and now I'm running at 175FSB*12, and just before was running 172*13.5, thank you for your help.
