My shiny new 2500 arrived an hour ago and it was just as I hoped it would be. Compared to my last one, its almost pure grey, just like my 1700 that did 2.4ghz! Currently running prime95 @ 2295mhz on 1.63 volts!!!!!!!! LOL I'm so chuffed, will keep you all updated.

Currently burning her in at 2435mhz/203fsb on 1.78 volts. 47 idle 51 load. 1 hour prime stable at this speed too...

Heres a quick comparison of the 2 chips;

old 2500 2.2ghz on 1.7v and 2.3ghz on 1.8v, needed 1.9v just to do 2345mhz

New 2500 2305+ on 1.64v and so far 2435 on 1.78v

I predict at least 2505mhz on 1.88v out of this chip and maybe 2530+ on 1.925v... Time for an SLK-900, some AS cermaique and a vantec tornado to see just how high this thing will go... Will probably order the HSF today lol...

Speed are you sure you rdy for the Tornado? It is pretty goddamn loud, even I'm thinking about getting some sort of speed control, because when i'm watching movies, this thing really gets annoying. Primarily because i have the side of my case open. Speeduk what ram u got?

I hate Computers! My P4 2.4C won't go above 3840mhz. My Sapphire 9800pro core/mem speed won't go above 490/790. I really hate computers!

Im using the epox 8RDA3+ board and twinmos 3200 memory that runs stable at 205mhz with cl 2/3/3/7 timings on 2.8v. BTW scott, I will be using my 2 smartfans as they shift a lot of air...

Speed why don't u get higher FSB? relax timings to 2.5-3-3-7 see if you can get FSB up to 215. Try to get 12x215FSB. That's going to kick ass 2580mhz.

This memory doesnt like anything over 210mhz and theres a bios bug for my mobo (a very big issue atm) what limits the fsb of the system to not much more than 205mhz. I did manage to run 3dmark at 212mhz cl 2.5/3/3/8 once and it was slower than 205 cl 2/3/3/7 so I leave it like this as its 100% stable and ultra fast. My mobo loves low latencies it seems...

Well after 2 hours of pure hell, my 900u is installed with both my smartfans on it, but I had to take out my PSU and put it on top of the case lol. I need a bigger case in order to have both the smartfans on top but with just one on it ran warmer than with my sk7.

Heres a quick comparison.
2436mhz on 1.78V
SK7 + AS3 + 2 smartfans on 4,000rpm (total 110cfm):
Idle:48 Load 55C ( 20 mins of prime)

SLK 900u + AS ceramique + 2 smartfans on 4,000rpm
Idle: 46C Load: 51C

Dont forget Ive only just installed the AS ceramique so it will get cooler after a weeks running or so, but I got exactly what I needed, an extra 3-4c to play with.

All I need now is a bigger case so I can fit the PSU properly..... Will overclock higher later...

Y don't u turn the Smart Case fans to full? Shouldn't that lower ur temp by a little? I wander what's it like with 2x80mm Tornados. I think i'll try that but unfortunently I have 1 92mm and 1 80mm tornados, so guess have to try that out.

LOL have you heard 2 smartfans on full? ROFL I have them both on 4,900rmp now and its like having a vacuum cleaner on, soooo LOUD! At 3,800 the fans are nice and quiet, 3,200 and they are no louder than my psu fans...!

@ 4800rpm: 45.5C idle and 50c load

Well i know for a fact that Smart Case fan2 are about 48dB of noise at full rpm and umm let's c the tornados 92mm is 56 and 80mm's 55, and that's what i have, unfortunently i can't control the speed so 2 tornados is what i have to live with everyday.

Hey speed, i enquired with DHL couriers today. It seems they dont accept "TO-PAY" on Overseas couriers. And there is no way i can send u the money. No bank undertakes sending money to anywhere outside of India. Its a weird rule. SO i guess i have to wait for the Barton to be released here or i'll wait a few more months and get a 2.4C with a good 875 mobo

And tnx a lot for ur offer man!

Fair enough m8. BTW just tried a little overclock to test the 900u and at 2480mhz/1.85v it reached 51 idle and 56 load lol so I think I need watercooling to keep it over 2400mhz.... Running at 2.4ghz/1.74v atm and just 1 fan on @ 3,600rpm, I get about same temps as 2436/1.78v with 2 fans on. Seriously thinking about a good 92mm fan as this would fit without taking the psu out.

I just got a 90mm 60cfm fan to see what kinda temps I get on a much quieter setup as the smartfans are rather loud. I did get them both to fit on the 900u with the psu installed, but 1 covered 3/4 of the sink while only a little bit was covered by the 2nd, so it wasnt efficient.

Trying the 90mm fan at 2.3ghz/1.68v I get 44C idle and 49 load and its dead quiet! At 2.4ghz, 1.78v I get 47C idle and 53 load. About 2c hotter than my 2 smartfans but the silence is amazing considering im running a 3600xp! The only thing to try next is a 92mm tornado with an rpm limiter.

2100mhz barton (200mhz fsb) = 3000xp
2200mhz barton = 3200xp
Im running: 2345mhz barton 204mhz fsb = 3600xp roughly.

Also to run at over 2400mhz it needs 1.83v now for some reason, at 2436mhz/1.8v it just freezes in prime after a few minutes. So it looks like I'm stuck at 2345mhz on 1.73v with temps currently 40c idle 45 load with the 2 smartfans.

I could run it at 2436mhz on higher volts, but with idle temps over 50C, its just not worth it. Strange how this chip heats up 6C with just .05 volts extra. I kinda miss running my 2100 on 2volts at 56C load hehehe...

well in Sandra the 3.9G oc on the 2.4C beats my AMD4300+. with 3.5G it's just about equivalent in games, in sandra drhystone on the AMD is a little higher(about 300 marks) and Whestone the 3.5G still wins by a lot(about 2200 marks).

Well I managed to sell my other cpus, my 2100,1700 and 2500 for £120 so I will be gettin the vantec tornado and a speed reducer so I can fit my psu back and run at upto 2.5ghz again and hopefully it will be stable. For the moment, 41c idle at 2334mhz is amazing, considering my other barton would idle about 51c+ at same speed because of the higher voltage needed. At 4,600 Im getting 39c idle. A huge difference from 1 fan and 46 idle! Lets see just how good the tornado is :D

LOL same i sold me Barton 2500+ for a REALLY high price, i live in canada, so my intel system costed me about 1200 canadian then there's the video card which i got for about 450 canadian. So in total that's about 1650 after the good old canadian government's 14.5% tax. I sold my 9500pro with that computer so i'm happy, and after I bought all the cooling and everything for my new comp, I still have about 350 dollars canadian left over. :)
