Its the same damn core you idiot, there's no inherent advantage to sapphire cards. If anything, I'd say theres more likely to be a disadvantage. In fact, I think both of you are extremely lucky (if not lying). If you've got the 256mb version, then 395 sounds reasonable for the memory, but for the 128 version with no mods? Even with ramsinks, 380 is really about the upper limit, 385 sounds reasonable, a few good samples I suppose. 490 on the core? Once again, you're either lucky or lying (I'm not accusing you of lying, I'm just saying those are the 2 possibilities).
I've got a volcano 10 on mine, and can do about 470 (depending), and tweakmonster ramsinks (copper, rev. 1) and can do about 380 on the memory (depending). Stock cooling and 490? Don't think so...
Neways, I'm also very interested in volt modding, more the memory than the core. I might wait a bit, till its closer to purchasing an r420 time, then if I mess something up (not TOO huge a screw up) theres less time till I get a hot new card.
I usually leave my card at 440/360 for longetivities sake, but really 460 is also 100% stable and artifact free forever basically. 380 to 460... 80 mhz. Thats huge. 380 to 430 "isn't much of an overclock" ??? Even that is 50 mhz, which is alot. Alot of performance that is.
