I was doing a big compression job tonight with my comp, but it being nearly 29 degrees (celcius of course) in the room i'm in I was pushing 53 degrees load, so I decided to try something, I popped off my side panel and let the cooling breeze of a nice big room fan blow directly into the intake of my cpu fan.
Man, what a difference, right now I'm pushing a load of 43 degrees, that's just nuts! I couldn't probably get better cooling out of a slk-900a and a vantec tornado. The only downsides is the rather unwieldiness of this method of cooling
So the next time u're CPU is on the brink of a heat-induced reboot due to the oven-climate of summer, pop open your case, turn on a room fan, and watch your temps plummet... just don't stick it too close, the EMF from the motor can be a pesky thing on monitors
