My wife and I just bought each other computers for Christmas (got 'em a month early ;-)) and we've been playing and modding the heck outta Skyrim. I'm running an awesome desktop (which some of you helped my config) and she's on a Lenovo Y580 with a GTX 660m OC'd +100 mhz core clock and +300 mem mhz (MSI Afterburner), 8GB RAM, Intel Core i7-3630QM. Let me also say that I've searched numerous forums, but to no avail.
Here's the problem:
Skyrim ran fine for her for a month, even with all the modding going on. She suddenly hit an FPS wall (like getting 20 indoors) and after some tweaking she deleted everything. The mods, the games, the prefs.ini......all of it. She reinstalled the game, updated drivers through Nvidia, forced the laptop to recognize the Nvidia GPU, disabled overclock, enabled overclock, and verified integrity of game cache. She then tried playing on medium with absolutely no mods or traces of mods on and STILL gets 20 FPS. So she went back and put a bunch of mods in on a whim and her frames didn't change at all. I am completely baffled. I've been crash coursing the last month and a half in how to mod, install, ENB, alla that good stuff, but I have no idea what else to do. Please, if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.
